Intermediate Ride Sat 20th

Post by Jon G »

Have just checked my emails to find that the intermediate ride is going to Filey or Rosedale, 90 miles approx. Is it just my imagination or are these rides getting ever so slightly longer each week

Without wanting to sound like i'm complaining or anything but I dont really wnat to drive to York to ride but adding on a ride to York and back makes it about 120 mile or so for me

Not sure a ride should be tailored to suit any one individual but thinking in terms of the Saturday rides as a whole, surely the idea is that the 'Intermediate' ride should be just that.

As a Saturday rider myself I feel it is important to think in terms of what the club is offering as a club - not just 3 sets of mates who happen to go riding together on a Saturday. Isn't the idea that as riders improve they can transition from Kevin's ride to the Intermediate ride and then - if they wish - they can move up to Howard's ride? Personally I like to feel I have friends amongst the 'regulars' on all 3 rides (and have been on each in the past few weeks).

Maybe once the clocks go forward, the 'H' ride could start at 10am, thus offering some of the keener 'intermediate riders' a slightly longer ride thereby reducing pressure to extend the 'Intermediate ride', so that it can continue to sit in between the 'H' and 'K' rides?

Alternatively, if there are adequate numbers and leaders willing to commit to a regular slot perhaps 4 groups of incremental length/speed could be accommodated?

Just my ha'pennyworth........

In terms of intensity I have to say I haven't noticed much difference between all the rides I've been on so far.

I turned up last saturday to ride the H ride but there wasn't one(?) so I rode the training ride and I guess the H ride would be similar but a bit further with a cafe stop.
I have been out on both clubrun and training run on a sunday and again the only difference really was a cafe stop. Is it just down to whether you want a cafe stop or not?

Hope to get out with the K group this weekend.

Certainly I wouldn't expect any of the rides to be tailored to suit one individual. Also the club unlike many others does offer a choice of rides. The point I suppose I was trying to make was that it was putting me off slightly going with the increased miliage but thats the good thing about the club you have a choice of rides.
