After my beasting at the hands of the Sunday gang a couple of weeks ago, I decided to join Kevin for a "pootle" this Saturday.

Lovely ride! Pretty quick, though - not quite the "pootle" I had been expecting! The stop at Coxwold was most welcome.

I am really grateful to Kevin and Billy for helping me out with my p****ture. My knee locked (there is a loose bit that floats around inside it and causes trouble when it jams itself in the joint) and I was totally useless. Usually a good wiggle will free it up, but not today. I tried everything. Laying on my front with Kevin wiggling my leg around - must have looked a bit odd! Jiggling it around myself! Nothing worked, then it just popped free and we could carry on.

I am sory that we lost the rest of the group. We tried to catch up, with Kevin towing Billy and I along at 20+mph, but we must have missed you all.

Saturday was my first ride with the club for a good few months, and it was good to be back out. As usual I struggled on the hills, and thank you to everyone for waiting for me.

With nice weather and a beautiful route I really enjoyed it. The cafe at Coxwold was a good choice (Kevin always picks the best cafe stops).

Thanks to everyone for a good day, to Steve for fixing the two p***tures I had, and to Kevin for towing me along when I got tired.

I had this trouble years ago which resulted in a small operation to flush out my knee joint and it certainly was a success, I decided to give up my running due to the amount of cartlidge deterioration they found but my knee was pain free and usually no problem with my cycling.

Has your doctor suggested anything?.

Thanks for your suggestion. Usually it isn't a problem on the bike, but with the puncture and the resultant twisting, bending, leaning, straining etc etc, it popped out and locked up.

It is a hangover from a previous rugby career and the surgeons have been in on a number of occassions - with varying degrees of success! I can't face letting them at me again! I'll just have to avoid punctures in the future - can't see that being a problem!
