Training Ride 20/03/10

Post by Aidan-from-Newcastle »

Just like to say thanks to the guys for waiting to make sure I was okay after my pedal snapped on ride today. Got back to York no problem but abandoned bike for train at Malton!

Glad you got back ok Aidan.

Turning up at the square with the rain falling heavily, I just wasn't in the right frame of mind for the training ride, so I was all too keen to abandon my original proposal for a route in favour of riding out with H group. My theory being, the bigger the group the more chance I'd have of having wheels to follow when the road went upwards and my poor power to weight ratio had its usual effect.

We parted from the H group at Hovingham and turned for Malton with the intention of doing the usual through and off now that the road was more level, but that didn't really work, more my fault than anyone else as I was unable (or unwilling) to go through every time. Coupled with that we had someone new (sorry I didn't ask your name) from Kevin's ride along for his first faster ride and he was dropping off a little at times on the rises so that was all the excuse I needed to say cheerio to the four faster lads and ride back with him.

That's it for me for the training ride for the next four weeks. You'll be back in Phil's capable hands the week after next, but someone to lead next week's ride is needed. Any of the regulars willing to stand in?
