Saturday saw over half a dozen of us congregating at the square at 9 for the h group clockwise navigation of the Cockayne loop.
Dave C and Dr D were looking annoyingly fit and tanned having just returned from their Majorca training camp. Their cover story was that they'd been over there for a week's gentle cycling with the CTC but I don't believe a word of it!
I'd resigned myself to getting a thorough soaking but the weather was much, much better than forecast. It was even sunny for minutes on end. The dangerous battleship grey gates across the road on the moors were almost glinting in the sunlight on approach.

Another late post for last Saturday's Intermediate Group Ride:
9 of us enjoyed a classic Helmsley Club run: Pete; Steph; Cath, Ginnie, Jonathan, Richard, Rich, Darren & myself.
Strensall - Sutton - Huby - Crayke - Oulston - Coxwold - Kilburn - Oldstead - Byland - Ampleforth - Helmsley - Harome - Nunnington - Slingsby - Castle Howard - York
Some great group riding, lovely autumnal day again and hardly noticed the rain just at the end.
We were all amused by Steph riding her new Kinesis actually into the toilet block at Helmsley with her. And my navigation still needs improvement as I missed East Ness and had to U turn to avoid the A170 - but hey, we wouldn't have topped 70 miles if I hadn't - so I reckon I was doing everyone's 'base miles' a favour!
'fraid can't make the club run this Sat - but see you the next week.
